A few months ago, I mentioned a few of the Marvel movies I wanted to check out next.
Now, it’s time to get down to business and figure out what you can watch this weekend.
First, some good news: Marvel has a slew of upcoming films in the works, including a number of new characters, including Thor and Black Widow.
These films are being written and directed by Taika Waititi, the writer/director of such films as Avengers: Age of Ultron, Iron Man 3 and Captain America: Civil War.
Here are the top-five films to watch this year:1.
Thor: Ragnarok (June 23)The new Thor film, which has already grossed more than $1 billion worldwide, will be a major release in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but there’s a reason why this is a marquee movie for the next three months.
Thor’s quest to return home to Asgard and reunite with his family is at its epicenter in the film.
It will be the first time since Thor and Loki went to space that the Asgardians are reunited with their lost family.
The movie is being produced by Legendary Pictures and will star Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Tom Hiddleston as Loki and Mark Ruffalo as The Ancient One.
It is expected to gross between $250 million and $300 million.2.
Doctor Strange (May 26)It is a big gamble for the MCU to start shooting Doctor Strange, but it’s not a one-man show.
Benedict Cumberbatch will star in the reboot of the Doctor Strange comic book character, which was published by Marvel Comics in the 1990s and is widely considered the most influential Marvel comic book story ever written.
Benedict’s casting in the role of Stephen Strange will be an interesting one, considering he’s only appeared in a handful of films, most notably in the hit film Guardians of the Galaxy.
In the comic, Strange, a former magician turned mystic, is battling demons and an alien invasion on his own.
It’s a good movie to watch if you’re not a Doctor Strange fan.3.
The Revenant (May 27)The second installment in the Revenant trilogy, which centers on the story of a group of hunters, has been in development for quite some time.
The film is directed by David Ayer and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Callum Wilson and Michael Fassbender.
It has been rumored that the movie will have a budget of $150 million.4.
Avengers: Infinity War (May 28)After the big-budget release of the Avengers: The Winter Soldier, the next installment in their Phase Three is scheduled to debut on May 28.
It stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Mark Hamill as the Avengers and Ant-Man, along with Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Tom Holland, Michael Peña and Samuel L. Jackson.
The budget for this film is reportedly $400 million, so it’s definitely a good bet to watch.5.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (June 5)The sequel to The Amazing Black Panther film is coming out in theaters on May 6.
It’ll be the second film in the Spider-Verse trilogy after the first one, and it’ll be directed by Marc Webb.
It should be a very good film for Spider-Fans.
It also stars Tom Holland and Michael Keaton.
It is expected that the film will gross between about $160 million and about $180 million.
