A new series of vampire-themed YouTube videos by series creator Jennifer Schulz have attracted nearly 7 million views since their release last week.
The series, entitled “The Vampire Diars, Season 5”, follows the exploits of vampire Hunter Miles (Keaton Clements) and his newlywed wife, Cassandra (Shelley Hennig), and the rest of their household as they venture into the city of Paris for the first time.
The episodes, which feature interviews with series star Kevin Costner, also feature the arrival of a new member of the family – vampire-turned-sister Bella (Caitriona Balfe).
“Vampires are a family, and I think this series is really going to give people a chance to see how their lives will change once they get out of the city,” Schulz said.
“They are not always the smartest, or the most talented.
But if you have been in the spotlight, they are just lovely, kind and generous people.
They just love to be loved and have fun.”
She said she hopes the series will encourage viewers to “give vampires a chance”.
“I think they are beautiful, they’re beautiful people, they’ve just always had to deal with the pressures of society and all that kind of stuff,” she said.
In addition to the video series, the YouTube channel has also released a short film, “Vampire Diary”, starring Kevin Costnaya and starring the likes of Clements and Hennigs.
